Wow! Can you believe it? Summer is finally here. Now is the perfect time to work on your space. And what better way to start than an entryway? Many times, we neglect this space. Either, because it's small or it's just a passing point. Your entryway should express your personality and be inviting to family and guest. Here is an inspiration board we just created for a client. The space was large enough to be a conversation area. There are a few key elements necessary for an entryway. The first a nice fresh paint job or wallpaper. Next, is some type of seating (chair, sofa or a bench). Then, you want to add a storage piece (table or chest). A nice piece of accessory that relates to the space. Eg: If you drop your keys in this space, get a decorative tray, box or hook. If you take your shoes off upon entering, pick up a shoe tray or shoe cubby. Mirrors. In my opinion is an absolute necessity. There's nothing wrong with taking a last minute glimpse of yourself before leaving the house. A nice runner or accent rug just makes it nice and cozy. It also protects your floors from the elements. Last but not least lighting. Table lamps, buffet lamps, sconces or ceiling lights. The last thing you want to do is enter or exit a space that's too dark. Lighting is very important.
