Fall for Color - Fab Friday

When you think of Fall fashion, you usually don't think about bright colors. You can never go wrong with bright colors no matter what the season. Fendi's fall collection introduces beautiful pieces. This is one of my favorites. This coral color blouse, black pants and color blocked jacket is a nice alternative to the change in season.

FENDI

If, you can afford Fendi, great. If not, I pulled together a more affordable version of the entire ensemble.  I found the top at Bebe.com. The Pants at Loft.com. Booties at Zappos.com and the Blazer from Macy's.

My favorite piece from the lower price point is the wrap top from Bebe. It's color is so vibrant and it works on almost every skin-tone. The fact that it's a bodysuit makes for a smoother fit.

Fashion is just another form of expression and whatever the trend there's always something out there for all of us. Hope you enjoyed my selection.

Have a wonderful weekend,

It's My Time

Fall is here. The kids are back in school. What better way to take care of you than a makeover? Well, I came across this lovely client. She decided to do something special for herself and didn't know where to start. Once, we received pictures of her space, the room we decided to work on was her bedroom. With such a busy schedule and a limited budget, we went with one of our decor packages. She followed Couture Interior's easy step-by-step instructions. Our client had an existing bed and dresser. Her main focus was to have a comfortable retreat so that she could sit and read or watch television. With green being her favorite color, we chose some nice accent pieces to give her the color she wanted without having to paint the walls a bold color. Once, reviewing our client's questionnaire, we realized she needed better lighting to brighten up the space. To soften up the space, we included a wall of drapes behind her bed and this is what we came up with.

Fab Friday 9-20-13

You know what time it is. Yes, it's fab Friday and I'm still coming off my high from fashion week. Well, this week I took the time to check out what's going on in the streets of New York! Fashion Week always emphasize on what everyday folks are wearing. Here are some fashions pulled from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (Street Style).

I love each and everyone of these fashions but I pulled a little something here and there to come up with my own street style outfit.

NYC is the mecca of fashion and the great thing is that you can create your own style. This outfit is one of my favorites. In street style, I found fabulous dresses, skirts, jackets, shoes and jewelry. Quite a few were topped off by some really cool hats. Hats are fun and they can add that finishing touch to just about any outfit. Well, I hope you like what I put together.

Until next time. Have a great weekend!

Fab Friday 9-13-13

Welcome to Fab Friday! Sadly, Fashion Week just ended. There were so many designers presenting their Spring 2014 lines. There were designs that made my jaw drop. But, we still have time before Spring 2014 arrives. In the meantime, I want to talk about this Fall/Winter's trend and that's sweaters & skirts. This is my favorite time of the year and obviously fashion's. Check out the sweater/skirt combinations below. We have bright and muted colors but they're all lovely.
This look works for all body types and that's what I love about it. You can wear flats, heels, booties, it doesn't matter. You can't go wrong. One note.....If you're wearing a fitted sweater, the skirt can be full. If you're doing a full sweater, try a slimmer skirt. It's all about balance.  Here is an outfit I put together to keep up with this Fall's trend.

You can find this outfit just about anywhere. Leather and faux leather is really big this season. There are tons of colors in every price range. The pieces I pulled together are on the higher end but you can definitely duplicate this trend by shopping at more affordable stores. Remember, it doesn't matter how much you spend, it's how you put the pieces together.

Until next time,

Fab Friday - Dressing the Pear Shaped Woman

Welcome to Fab Friday! This week is really special to me. It's Mercedes Benz Spring 2014 Fashion Week! If, I didn't mention it before, I love fashion just as much as I love interior design.  As, I struggled with my topic for the week, it just hit me....Summer is almost over. This is my favorite time of the year. There's so much more to choose from with Fall/Winter fashions. You get to choose your boots, bags, hats, coats, gloves and the list goes on. This week's blog not only puts an outfit together, but it's dedicated to dressing the pear-shaped woman. As a pear-shaped gal, the widest point of your figure is your hips. Having a smaller top and waist, your hips and thighs are more pronounced. It's always a little difficult finding the right fashion to compliment your figure. Well, this is what I do know. As a pear-shape, you should always wear something interesting on the top. The last thing we want to do is hide our gift. We're just trying to maintain proportion. Balancing the body is key. Wear tops that are light, bold colors with interesting shape and maybe a little glitter. Keep it interesting by adding bold jewelry, scarves or a pretty brooch. As for jackets and blazers, this is always a nice addition to your wardrobe. Now, it's been said that you should wear jackets that hide the hips but I TOTALLY disagree. Again, we're not ashamed of our gift, we just need to keep balance. I believe a nicely tailored jacket that falls just below the waist (but definitely a little cinched) is perfect. This allows our womanly figure to be noticed with a little subtlety. Now, as for the bottom half, I always recommend dark bottoms. Go with a nice A-Line skirt or flat front slacks (please stay away from large pockets, pleats or horizontal prints). Lastly, let's not forget the fierce heels! Shoe designers have made it so easy for you to walk in heels (even if you're new to this). If, you're a seasoned shoe gal, the sky's the limit! If, you're not so steady on your feet, a nice wedge will give you the stability you need. Heels give an appearance of longer legs. And ladies, I can't say this enough......there is absolutely nothing wrong with buying a size bigger so that it fits. THEN, take it to your local tailor to have the garment tailored to your proportions. There's nothing cute about wearing something that's (not only) uncomfortable but looks like you're popping out of your clothes. The object is to look like a woman whose well put together and tailoring will do that. I know we love our snug jeans and that's fine but clothing that fit, makes you look smaller than something exceptionally tight.

An easy way to figure out how to put a collection together is by watching some of our notorius curvy celebs like Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian.

Here's a nice weekend outfit I put together in celebration of the pear-shaped gal! I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
