Fab Friday - Casually Chic

Welcome to Fab Friday! This is the one day that I get to design outside of home decor. Here is one of my favorite outfits. I love the jacket because it has dimension and the silhouette gives you that cinched waist. This jacket has studs along the waist pockets as well as the shoulders. I got the jeans and henley top from Old Navy. The henley is comfortable and doesn't add bulk underneath the jacket.

Fun jewelry like the leather bracelet and earrings is a nice touch. You can follow it up with a serious watch. Speaking of watches, I love a nice bulky look. Fossil and Michael Kors make a number of time pieces worth investing in. Fossil, in particular makes a "boyfriend watch" that has a larger case yet, the band is small enough in length for a woman's wrist.

Last but not least, comfortable shoes are always a priority. Especially, when you're on your feet most of the day. These cute little wedges give a little lift but adds the finishing touch to the rest of the ensemble. It's a comfortable alternative to sneakers but still very chic.

This time, I made sure to mention where most of the items may be found. The prices are very reasonable (even for the most frugal shopper).

Well, I hope you like what I put together.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Fab Friday - New Nudes

Hello and welcome to Fab Friday. I am absolutely psyched. The weekend is here and I get to talk about something I'm so passionate about....SHOES. One of my favorite designers took the time to consider women of all color.  Christian Louboutin has a new "Shades" collection. In this collection there are 5-shades of nudes. He went across the complexion spectrum. Now, women of all skin-tones have a nude shoe to wear.

There's nothing more slimming than a beautiful pair of nude shoes. Nudes, make the legs look longer. And, the great thing is that this fashion works during any season. During the Fall and Winter months pair them up with sheer or opaque tights. With the large selection of hosiery manufacturers, they're easy to find.

You have to love those red bottoms.

 Have a great weekend!

Animal Magnetism

Remember back in the days when you visited an old relative or friend's house and they had that animal head on the wall. Kind of creepy :)  Well, there's a new spin on it. In modern decor, we've noticed a large play on animals whether it's 3-D or a faux print pattern. From, floor to ceiling, it's really hard not to notice the crafty new ways the home decor industry modernized some of these interesting creatures. Here are some of my favorite items.

If you're looking for a less expensive way of adding animal decor to your space, take photos of your favorite pet and have them enlarged. Just that simple.

Until next time. Keep decorating,

Fab Friday - Weekend Style

Welcome to Fab Friday! One of my favorite topics. Well, today, I'm bringing some of my favorite outerwear. Yes! I'm talking coats. Some of us are still in denial but it's that time of year and there are tons of coats to choose from. Here are a few of my favorites. Usually, after a long work week, we want to throw on the sweats and sneakers. That's fine for going to the laundromat. Ladies, those days are long gone. It's time to take it up a notch. I know, I know. It's a little bit more work but aren't you worth it? Why not, look as good on the weekends as you do going to work? Here are a few of my pics (sophisticated to laid back) for a great weekend look.

Style: Weekend Sophistication

Style: Weekend Glam

Style: Weekend Casual

Style: Weekend Lay Back

Mind you, any of these coats are great with a nice pair of slacks, skinny jeans, straight legs, bootcuts, dresses or skirts. The idea is to get out of the habit of sweats and sneakers. All of my looks add a little bit of sophistication no matter what your style is. And the great thing is that you don't have to spend a lot of money. All of the looks can be duplicated on a smaller budget. There are tons of designers out there and there's a budget to match all of our wallets. As usual, I hope you enjoy my picks as much as I enjoy putting the looks together. Until next time.

Have a great weekend!

Trending in Home Decor

Have you noticed what's trending in home decor? Especially decor and lighting? The industrial look has taken off. Ever since luxury historian furniture maker Restoration Hardware dominated the industry, companies like,West Elm and HomeDecorators started to follow suit. Even, in my everyday design, many of my clients (both male and female) are requesting this look.

Here are a few new items on the market from shadesoflight.com

Decorating is very selective. You don't always have to keep up with trends to have a beautiful space but a good rule of thumb to decorating is to switch it up every now and then. You don't have to buy everything trendy. Minor changeouts like a new lamp or mirror or a small piece of furnishing can easily look like you just had a makeover.

Until next time,

Fab Friday - A Lady with Edge

Welcome to Fab Friday (well, I technically posted a little late). Anyway..... I couldn't leave you hanging. You know Friday is my dedication to fashion. As, I always try to decide what my next outfit will entail, I came across one of my favorite stores. New York and Company. We, have a long history and they haven't let me down yet. In fact, my parents used to shop here when they were formerly known as Lerner's. Then they changed the name to Lerner's Shop and eventually New York and Company. Giving away my age, they used to sell infants, children and women's clothing back in the 1960's and they haven't let me down since. I guess you can say, my parents kept us very fashionable since we were infants. Well, NY&Co has the lovely Eva Mendes as their new spokesperson. I love, love, love the way Eva dresses. She brings back that "lady-like" image. An image you can never go wrong with. If you get a moment, check out New York and Company's website and look at her collection. I know, I know. Some women just aren't into that girly look. So, I put a little bit of a spin on it. How about a little edge? With a few accessories, we took the she-she out and gave it a little more grit. And for the ladies who love that girly look, lose the jacket, add sheer or opaqe tights and a  more feminine piece of jewelry and you're set. Here'what I came up with.

The dress is a staple piece because it's great for all body types. You can dress it up or down. It's really up to you. How you accessorize determines your look.

Well, I hope you enjoyed what I put together. And remember, you're fabulous no matter what size or body type you are. Being fashionable doesn't discriminate, so go out there and represent the best you possible.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!
